The Neuse

275 miles. One river. A mission to clean, heal, and remember.

The Mission

We're kayaking the entire length of the Neuse River — 275 miles from the Falls Lake Dam to the Pamlico Sound where it meets the Atlantic. Along the way, we're pulling every piece of trash we can reach out of the water.

The journey will take 7 to 14 days. We'll camp at river access points each night, weigh the garbage we've collected, and keep moving downstream. Every pound of trash we remove is a small victory for the river and the communities along it.

Why We're Doing This

Protect the River

The Neuse is one of North Carolina's most important waterways. We want to raise awareness about preserving it and show what two people with kayaks can accomplish.

Clean the Water

Every mile we paddle, we're pulling trash from the river. We'll weigh everything we collect — for accountability, and because it'll be satisfying to see the total.

Reggie's Journey

Reggie lost his leg in an accident and has spent the past year in recovery. Completing this trip marks his return — to the water, to work as a stagehand, and to the life he's been fighting to get back.

Honoring Family

Christopher's mother passed in January 2024. Her wish was to have her and his father's ashes spread into the ocean. At the end of our journey, where the Neuse meets the Atlantic, we'll honor that wish.

How You Can Help

Donate

Help us fill the gaps in gear. Reggie has been out of work for a year — every dollar goes toward making this trip safe and successful. All spending is publicly transparent.

Volunteer

Meet us at river access points along the route to pick up the trash we've collected and bring fresh water. You can even camp with us for the night.

Loan Equipment

GoPros, waterproof cameras, kayak mounts, solar charging stations, or data storage devices — if you have gear that can help us document the trip, we'd love to borrow it.

Spread the Word

Can't donate or volunteer? Share our mission with your friends, family, and social networks. Every share helps us reach more supporters.

Become a Sponsor

We're reserving 3 logo spots on each kayak (6 total) for sponsors and top donors. Your company logo, website, or social media will be visible throughout our 275-mile journey — and in all photos and video from the trip.
